LemFi is moving beyond international transfers with a rebuilt app that brings payments, savings, credit and mobile data into one account. The expansion is the largest in the company’s history, with savings and credit launching in the UK and eSIMs available in more than 100 destinations.

The move reflects a gap LemFi says it sees among people whose finances span countries: work, qualifications and savings records built in one place may not carry much weight after a move. The company points to an estimated 304 million people living outside their country of birth and $905 billion sent home annually. Its bet is that customers in this position need more than a way to transfer money; they need financial services that can support a life across borders.

More than two million customers use LemFi to send money to over 30 countries, and the company says monthly transaction volume exceeds $2 billion. Transfers remain part of the offer, spanning destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe and elsewhere. LemFi plans to add more countries next year.

“We started LemFi because sending money home was broken. What we learned is that the harder problem starts after the transfer,” said co-founder and CEO Ridwan Olalere. He said customers build careers and businesses in one country while supporting people in another, but financial services often assume they live in just one place. “Ambition travels. The infrastructure behind it should travel too.”

What the expanded app offers

In the UK, LemFi’s Instant Access Savings Account pays a boosted 5% AER for the first six months after opening, then switches to a 3.04% AER tracker linked to the Bank of England base rate. Customers can open an account with £1 and withdraw without a penalty. ClearBank holds deposits, which are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to £120,000 per eligible depositor.

The UK credit offer is a revolving credit line, subject to availability, issued by Lemfi Credit through Pillar, the FCA-regulated credit provider LemFi acquired in 2025. Customers can use it through a virtual card in Apple Pay or Google Pay, including for spending and sending money. Eligible users can also check their Equifax credit score in the app at no charge.

For travel connectivity, customers can buy eSIM mobile data for more than 100 destinations before they arrive. The service is available in every LemFi market and avoids swapping physical SIM cards or relying on roaming.

A rebuild for multiple services

LemFi says it re-architected the app to support products across countries within a single account. The redesign puts services in clearer view and gives the company a structure for adding products as it expands. That shift matters because a transfer app has to become something broader if it’s to serve customers’ financial needs between payments.

The app launch arrives with a new global brand platform, “Ambition has no passport.” LemFi says the identity will appear across its app, website, marketing and social channels in its global markets. The message frames the company’s audience around what they’re building across borders, rather than the country they left.

“Ambition has no passport is not a line we placed on top of the product. It is the idea the whole system is built from,” said Isabel Ron-Pedrique, LemFi’s vice president of design and brand. She said the brand is intended to follow customers across the app and their daily lives.

Savings and credit are initially available in the UK, with LemFi saying other markets will follow. The next test for the expanded platform will be whether it can bring these services to more countries while keeping the cross-border needs of its existing transfer customers at the center.
